In the 64th match of the ongoing IPL 2023, Delhi Capitals manage to beat Punjab Kings by 15 runs to completely jeopardize Punjab’s chances to qualify for the playoffs of the competition.

Notably, batting first, the visiting side took PBKS by storm as the openers David Warner and Prithvi Shaw wreaked havoc in the middle. Returning back to the playing XI, Shaw smacked 54 runs off 38 deliveries while the skipper hit 46 runs off 31 deliveries.

Soon after they went back to the pavilion, South Africa international Rilee Rossouw took control of the situation, smashing 82* runs off just 37 deliveries. PBKS bowlers had no idea what to bowl to him as the 33-year-old looked absolutely flawless. Batting at number four, Phil Salt too played well, scoring 26* runs off 14 deliveries as PBKS posted 213 runs in 20 overs.

Meanwhile, four of six PBKS bowlers leaked more than 10 runs per over and that’s a massive reason to worry about for the Shikhar Dhawan-led side. Sam Curran was the only bowler among wickets as the England international picked up two, leaking 36 runs in the process.

When it came to the chase, PBKS skipper Shikhar Dhawan failed to open his tally while Prabhsimran Singh hit 22 runs off 19 deliveries. However, soon after they got out, Atharva Taide and Liam Livingstone stepped up to bail the team out of a difficult situation.

The youngster Atharva hit 55 runs off 42 deliveries but interestingly, the think tank called him back as the player retired out. Jitesh Sharma who came in his place however couldn’t make the most of the opportunity as he failed to open his tally.

Later, Shahrukh Khan tried to accelerate but just like Jitesh, he couldn’t. Liam Livingstone, however, kept the fight going as the England international played one of his finest knocks in the cash-rich league, scoring 94 runs off 48 deliveries in the process. Sam Curran supported him well but Anrich Nortje rattled his stumps to change the complexion of the game as Delhi picked up an incredible win in Dharamsala.
