Australia wicketkeeper-batter Beth Mooney reckoned that she is eager to overcome Test 'demons' in the upcoming Women's Ashes 2023. The Australia women's cricket team are scheduled to tour England in June-July 2023. The tour will include a one-off Test , three Women's Twenty20 Internationals, and three Women's One-Day Internationals, with a points-based system to determine the Ashes winner.

Mooney suffered a calf injury during her first match for the Gujarat Giants Women in the inaugural Women's Premier League 2023 (WPL). While losing their skipper was terrible for Gujarat, the consequences for Australia proved to be less serious as she has returned to fitness and is currently in Brisbane for Australia's pre-Ashes camp.

Mooney said that there has been a bit of a demon on her shoulder and she has not conquered it yet. She also stated that doing so in England would be extremely difficult. However, she is confident that being able to play a couple of Test matches over the summer will be quite beneficial in formulating the strategy.

"That's been a bit of a demon on my shoulder in the last few (Tests), I haven't quite conquered that yet. It's going to be really tough conditions to be able to do that (in England)," Mooney told cricket.com.au.

"But being able to play a couple of Test matches over summer will be really helpful with working out the plan… because obviously, it's pretty different to the white-ball formats. It's something that all the batters want to do for sure, but first and foremost, it's how can I get the team into a position where we can win the Test," she added.

Mooney, who has won three T20 World Cups (2018, 2020, and 2023) as well as an ODI World Cup (2022), said she has a strong desire to achieve laurels in the longest format. The 29-year-old has featured in four Tests and scored 184 runs, including two half-centuries.
