In the cricketing world, Rinku Singh is making waves, and his knack for finishing games has caught the eye of none other than Indian coach Rahul Dravid. As the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan kicks off at the  Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali, Dravid sees this as a golden opportunity for Singh to further hone his finishing skills.

Dravid emphasized the importance of seizing opportunities, whether in this series or the IPL, for Singh's overall growth as a player. Moreover, he also pointed out that whenever a player is in the right groove and has been delivering consistent performances especially in the role of a finisher, that player always knocks on the door of the selectors.

"He has been performing well in the role of a finisher. This series (against Afghanistan) is another opportunity for him to develop himself as a cricketer further. Whatever opportunity he gets here or in the IPL, it will be good for his development. Whenever a player does well, he always remains in the thoughts of the selector," Dravid added, echoing the sentiment of nurturing talent through consistent performances," Dravid was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

Besides, Rinku Singh's left-handed style has brought an added advantage to the team. The Team India head coach also named youngsters who have been doing good for the team in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma. However, he clarified that despite the cut-throat competition within the team, selections will be made only on the basis of merit aka performance. Heading into the T20I series, Dravid confirmed the opening duo. He also highlighted the flexibility within the squad, allowing decisions in the best interest of the team.

"Players like Rinku, Jaiswal, and Tilak have come in as well, which adds a nice string to the bow. But in the end, we make selection on the basis of performance, not just on the left-hand or right-hand batsman. As of now, we will be opening with Rohit and Jaiswal," the 50-year-old continued.

Nothing is closed, we've no doubt the kind of skill sets Rohit and Kohli possess: Rahul Dravid

With Virat Kohli missing the Mohali T20I but set to return for the subsequent games, questions arise about the batting order. Rahul Dravid keeps his options open and looks have a place open for the players competing to play for Team India. Whether Kohli opens alongside Rohit or takes a different spot, Dravid seemed confident in the skill sets of these seasoned players to tackle any bowling challenge.

"Nothing is closed. We have no doubt that the kind of ability and skill sets players like Rohit and Kohli possess, they will be able to find answers against different kinds of bowling," Dravid concluded.
