The ODI World Cup 2023 final between India and Australia which was played at the grand Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 18, will be remembered for many years. The hosts were in red-hot form after winning 11 games on streak but suffered a loss in the final which devastated the fans and the players alike.

However, the former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif, made some surprising revelations about the pitch preparation for the match, reigniting the debate about the role of curators and home team advantage. Fans and players alike were left disappointed after India's loss as the match was played on a pitch that was widely criticized which many believed favoured the Australian bowlers, particularly the pacers like Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins.

"Both Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid came in the evening to inspect the pitch, this practice was done for three days straight, and I saw the pitch changing colour. They have Cummins, and Starc who are fast bowlers, so give them slow pitches and a mistake happens. People say that curator makes the pitch and no one has a say is false and baseless," Kaif said in an interview with Lallantop.

India lost the WTC Final to Australia in another major loss of the year 2023

Team India had an incredible campaign and were the favourites to lift the trophy for the third time at a major ICC tournament. However, one bad day, which turned out to be the finals, cost them the trophy. Rohit Sharma and the entire Indian team performed exceptionally well throughout the tournament, with significant contributions from various players.

Earlier in the year, India faced another setback as they lost to the Pat Cummins-led Australian side in the finals of the ICC Test World Championship. With both major trophies lost in a single year, it was undoubtedly a disappointing period for the fans and players. Nevertheless, the Indian fans continued to back their team, believing they would perform exceptionally well in the future.
