Rajasthan’s Mahipal Lomror hit a phenomenal triple century against Uttarakhand in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25. Batting at number three, the 24-year-old batted with the right intent and hit a staggering 25 boundaries and 13 maximums on his way to the triple century. He looked in total control of the game and even when he was losing partners at regular intervals at one point, Lomror wasn’t affected as he continued in the same manner.
Batting at six, Karthik Sharma supported him well in the middle, as the cricketer made 113 runs off 115 deliveries. They stitched a partnership of 177 runs in the middle. Later, keeper-batter Bharat Sharma made 54, Deepak Chahar 35 and Kukna Ajay Singh hit an unbeaten 40 as Uttarakhand declared their innings for 660 runs. Lomror meanwhile remained not out for 300 runs off 360 balls.
Uttarakhand, on the other hand, lost two early wickets. Captain Ravikumar Samarth made a half-century as the hosts posted 109/2 after Day 2. They are trailing by 551 runs and have a mountain to climb. The batters have a tough job in their hands while Rajasthan will be hoping to pick early wickets on Day 3 and eye for a win at Abhimanyu Cricket Academy.
Meanwhile, Lomror’s terrific knock came at the right time. The southpaw wasn’t retained by Royal Challengers Bengaluru as he will go under the hammer in the upcoming IPL mega-auction. Usually, the Ranji Trophy isn’t something that IPL franchises take into account but since the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) is starting late this year, the teams can consider the form of players in the red-ball tournament.
