Ace Indian batter, Virat Kohli, was spotted finetuning his batting skills in the nets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground ahead of the Boxing Day Test scheduled to commence on December 26. He was greeted with loud cheers from the hustling supporters who had made their way to the venue to see the Indian unit in full flow.
However, as per reports, Kohli was prompt in requesting for the vocal fans to maintain silence, which would in turn prioritise total concentration on his preparations in the middle. The No.4 batter faced the likes of Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna and other local left-arm pacers while grinding it out in the nets. He appeared rock-solid in his approach. Kohli demonstrated an impressive defence and confidently let go of back-of-a-length deliveries, as per India Today.
He was also observed standing a step outside the crease. Later, he was spotted engaging in discussions with Rana and Prasidh. It is reported that he was providing them with inputs on the ideal lengths that they should be bowling to him.

There was a brief injury scare for top-order batter, Shubman Gill. Notably, Gill had returned back to the squad after missing the series opener due to a finger injury. A Mohammed Siraj delivery struck Gill on the right hand. This particular incident halted practice for a while. However, after medical attention was provided, Gill resumed batting. He appeared to be quite free-spirited in the remainder of the net session.
While Kohli hasn't been on the top of his game in the ongoing tour Down Under, one aspect from which he can take inspiration from is the venue of the penultimate Test. The MCG is a happy hunting ground for Kohli. Kohli would hope to rediscover his lost touch soon, considering this game holds added significance for India from the World Test Championship perspective.
