Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women emerged as emphatic victors in Match 4 of the Women's Premier League 2025 against Delhi Capitals Women by a commanding margin of eight wickets and 22 deliveries to spare at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.
Renuka Singh started off things with a bang, dismissing Shafali Verma for a golden duck. All the Indian top-order batter could do was chip the full inswinging delivery to mid-off. Kim Garth's over to follow also went for only a couple.
However, from then onwards till the completion of the powerplay, the entire phase belonged to the Capitals and Jemimah Rodrigues in particular. She raced to 30 at the end of the first six overs, already having registered three fours and two maximums. She smashed one past the bowler on the fourth delivery of the seventh over to bring up her fourth boundary.
However, Georgia Wareham had the last laugh. A reverse-sweep attempt failed miserably as Rodrigues was caught out of the crease. From that point onwards, there was a constant fall of wickets at regular intervals. After being dispatched for 24 runs off her first couple of overs, Ekta Bisht came back strongly to dismiss Jess Jonassen and Marizanne Kapp in successive overs.
Delhi Capitals Women ended up getting bowled out for 141 in 19.3 overs. Their innings was start-stop, which never truly got running. Only two batters managed to register scores northwards of the 20-run mark.
Smriti Mandhana got the run-chase off to an explosive start, taking the first over for 13 runs. Her positive strokeplay inside the first six overs was the reason why Bengaluru ended with 57. Danni Wyatt-Hodge, on the other hand, was playing a steady knock.
In fact, the carnage did not stop even after the powerplay was done. The four overs subsequent to the powerplay were taken for 45. Arundhati Reddy got the first dismissal of the evening for the Capitals, but only after the opening pair had forged 107. It was a bit too late for the Capitals, with Bengaluru requiring just 35 off 54.
Shikha Pandey, the most economical from the Capitals, brought an end to Mandhana's enterprising 81-run knock which comprised 10 fours and three maximums. Richa Ghosh ended the game in style with a six over the deep backward square-leg fence.
